About Us:
 

In 1992 a Shotokai Karate club was formed in Keynsham, which is situated between Bristol and Bath. Soon it was a regular fixture at the St Johns Church Hall in Keynsham High Street. During these early days student numbers varied, but over time a solid and committed membership was established. In 1999 a second venue opened at The Grange School Warmley and in 2001 a third that is now held at Redland High School for Girls in Bristol. Each venue has it’s own unique atmosphere with the practice sessions led by a Shin do Shotokai black belt Instructor. There is a ladies only class in Staple Hill, Bristol. We also benefit from a thriving and popular junior club (KEBBA) with a membership of nearly 100.

 

In 2003 as a result of increasing popularity and the subsequent growth in membership it became obvious that the club name “Keynsham Shotokai Karate Club” no longer adequately described the geographic spread of venues therefore it was decided to give the collection of venues a generic name and “Zenshin dojo” was eventually chosen.

Through the study of martial arts we have forged strong links with friends and fellow karate ka from all over the world. Members from our club regularly visit other European countries to eat, drink, sight see and of course practice some Shotokai! Throughout the year we also often welcome reciprocal visits from France, Switzerland, Portugal, Belgium, Canada students, to name a few!

Zenshin Dojo Redland - (click for map) - meet at Cotham School, Cotham Lawn Road, Clifton . Our practice times are weekly on a Tuesday 7.00 - 9.00 pm for adults.

Zenshin Dojo Keynsham - (click for map) - meet at St John's Church Hall, High Street, Keynsham, Bristol. Practice times are Thursdays 7.00 - 8.30 pm for Beginners to Orange Belts and 8.30 - 10.00 pm for Green Belts and above.

Zenshin Dojo Staple Hill - (click for map) - LADIES ONLY CLASS - we run a Ladies only class on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 - 9.00 pm at  Page Community Association, Page Rd, Staple Hill, Bristol.

Zenshin Dojo Warmley - (click for map) - The Grange School, Tower Road North, Warmley, Bristol. Practice times are Sundays, 6.00 - 7.30 pm for adults.

Zenshin Dojo Alcester - (click for map) - Alcester Grammar School, Alcester (in the Dance Studio) Birmingham Road, Alcester, Warwickshire B49 5ED. Practice times are Mondays, 7.00 - 9.00 pm for adults.

KEBBA Keynsham - (click for map) - St John's Church, High Street, Keynsham, Bristol BS31 2BL. We practice weekly on a Thursday. Times are as follows: 4.00 - 4.45 pm White to Red Belt, 5.00 - 5.45 pm Red + 1 tab - Orange + 1 tab and 6.00 - 6.45 for Orange + 2 tabs to Brown.

KEBBA Staple Hill - (click for map) - Page Community Association, Page Rd, Staple Hill, Bristol. We practice weekly on Tuesday and Wednesday. Times are as follows:
Tuesday, 4.30 - 5.15 pm for White - Red + 1 tab, and 5.30 - 6.15 pm for Red + 1 tab to Orange + 1 tab.
Wednesday, 4.30 - 5.15 pm for White - Red belt, 5.30 - 6.15 pm for Red + 1 tab to Orange + 1 tab and 6.30 - 7.15 for Orange + 2 tabs to Brown belt.

KEBBA Warmley - (click for map) - The Grange School, Tower Road North, Warmley, Bristol. We practice on Sundays and have sessions for different grades and belts as follows: 3.00 - 3.45 White and Red Belts, 4.00 - 4.45 pm Red + 1 tab - Orange + 1 tab, and 5.00 - 5.45 pm for Orange + 2 tabs to Black Belt.
