Shin-do Shotokai is affiliated to Shotokai Insurance Co-operative Services (SICS) who provide comprehensive martial arts insurance.  SICS provides the organisation with a member-to-member policy for those practicing to ensure they are protected in the unlikely event that they injure somebody during karate practice.  SICS also provides insurance for instructors to ensure that they are covered in case a liability claim is made against them.

In addition to the main insurance policy and associated instructor insurance, SICS can also offer martial arts specific travel insurance which covers everything standard travel insurance covers but gives the benefit of cover if injury occurs through martial arts practice.  Event cover is also available for those groups who wish to host international events.

Standard insurance covers martial arts practice of various styles, foam, wooden and metal (blunt) weapons use for practice and demonstration and also self defence sessions.

Insurance is included in the Shin-do Shotokai membership fee.  Instructor insurance is available directly from SICS and a subsidy may be available for club leaders by contacting the treasurer.

Its is recommended that all those wishing to practice pay their membership fees within four weeks of starting practice to ensure that insurance cover continues.  It is also recommended that visitors that wish to take part in Shin-do Shotokai practices or courses ensure they have signed a SICS insurance slip for temporary cover or join SICS as an independent.
